Off-duty police officer shoots man who breaks into his KC home

The Kansas City Star

A suspected burglar was in the hospital Thursday after being shot by an off-duty Kansas City police officer.

The incident happened about 10:15 a.m. when the officer confronted the man in the officer’s home in the 8700 block of Kentucky Avenue.

According to Police Capt. Rich Lockhart, the officer was in bed when he heard the doorbell. He ignored it, then heard a loud noise and realized someone had kicked in his front door. The officer grabbed his gun and confronted the man, who made a verbal threat. The officer shot the man at least twice.

The intruder, who police said suffered life-threatening wounds, was taken to a hospital and underwent surgery.

The officer, a 35-year-old, eight-year veteran of the department, was uninjured. He was placed on leave.

He told police that he heard other voices, suggesting the presence of at least one other person, maybe two. He did not see anyone else.

Police questioned a woman found nearby who said she was looking for a ride to a hospital because her friend had been shot. Police were not certain whether the woman had any connection to the incident.

Deep thought

Do you know who scares* me more than Obama?

Obama supporters.  The ones who feel he is the Messiah- the ones who have large posters of Obama in their rooms, the ones that are so rock star in love with Obama that they have suspended all rational thought.

*Obama doesn’t scare me in the same sense as hippies are scared of Dick Cheney, although Obama supporters do scare me in the same way hippies are scared of Cheney.

some musings...

I'm Back...

Korynn wanted me to post again… and believe it or not, I think I ran out of things to say.  I will try to get back to Barack bashing in a little while, but Korynn’s little post summed it all up quite nicely- you gotta ask yourself how much government involvement you want in your lives.  If you want the govt to tie your shoes in the morning and tell you what groceries you can buy, then by all means vote Barack.  If you like the little freedoms we still enjoy, then vote for McCain, but take a long shower afterwards.  Like Glenn Beck said- we have a choice between a Marxist and a really bad democrat.
